The Dragon's Divorce The Empire' Final Split

Back To Index

As the dust settled after the Second Human-Elven War, the once-mighty Empire of Remia lay in ruins. Though the economy slowly recovered, political turmoil continued to mount within the kingdom. In the north, the Duchy of Valoria was propped up by the powerful Kingdom of Skjalva, until their influence grew too strong and the military overthrew the Duke, establishing a cruel dictatorship in his place.

The Empire tried to resist the insurrection, but the support of the northern alliance proved too strong. Meanwhile, in the east, the duchies of Volnyr, Nokutarus, and Marnae saw their chance to rebel against the weakened empire. They demanded the end of the empire and its dissolution into individual duchies, a notion that quickly caught on and soon the empire was in dire unrest once again.

The emperor knew that he could not allow the dissolution of his empire, but the revolt dethroned him, forcing his son to sign a declaration of the dissolution of the empire.

The emperor didn't want that to happen but the revolt dethroned him, setting his son onto the throne who was forced to sign the declaration of the dissolution of the empire.

But what could have been the end of Remia turned out to be its saving grace. Though the eastern duchies gained their independence, most of the other duchies remained loyal and quickly joined together to form the new Kingdom of Remia, under more self-determined leadership. With no more internal strife, Remia finally found peace. Though the economy was again in shambles, the kingdom slowly began to rebuild, and the new Remian kingdom regained its influence and power.

The independent eastern realms, still in alliance with Remia, now acted as satellite states, grateful for the support of the now strengthened kingdom. Thus, we find ourselves in the present era of Remian history, one of resilience, determination, and rebirth.
